The Origin 2000 sgi 2400 called medusa.uvt.nl, currently in the UvT server
room, will get shipped to the Centre for Computing History
(www.computinghistory.org.uk) near Cambridge, UK.

mee wilt helpen het blauwe monster van de serverzaal naar de ingang van de
postkamer te slepen.  Daar zal dan een busje van Jason Fitzpatrick van het
Engelse Computermuseum staan.

History:

Tilburg University in the Netherlands wants to get rid of an Origin 2000 sgi
2400.  (It has been used by the CWI (Centrum voor Wiskunde en Informatica)
research institute in The Netherlands.)  It consists of 3 cabinets of about 2
meters high; width about 22 inch.  Pictures are here:
https://ilk.uvt.nl/~sebas/sgi/ .  Out of the 4 panels present, 3 are still
fully functional.  Is has 48 GB RAM and 24 CPU's running at 200 MHz.  At
its time, it was probably among the top-500 computers in the world.

It's free for anybody willing to arrange transportation.  Please reply to
joostvb+sgi@uvt.nl if you're interested.  If you plan to use the machine for
Free Software work, you'll get a priority handling :)
